Here's our sustainable city project. As a class, we decided to imagine what our city would look like in 100 years as a sustainable city. We split into two committees of two, with each committee focusing on a different topic or problem to solve.
Transportation: their job was to develop sustainable ways of getting around the city. Agriculture: their job was to ensure that the city was green and rich in vegetation. Citizen enjoyment: they ensured that the city was pleasant and lively. Green spaces: this committee ensured that plants lived in and on the city, not just around it. Sustainable energy: they were responsible for powering the city with elements such as wind and water.
Finally, we all got together and started bringing our ideas to life. Of course, in miniature. We used cardboard, felt, pipe cleaners, straws and many other materials to create a real city illustrating different ways of being sustainable.
