Kirsten Buch

With the release of her debut single “Breathe Out” on April 22, Kiki Venom steps into the spotlight with a sound and story that feel both deeply personal and effortlessly polished. Behind the name is Kirsten Buch (Collingwood alumnus), a lifelong performer whose connection to music began at just four years old, when she first started piano, singing, and acting. Raised in a creative environment—her mother, Susie Buch, led performing arts at Collingwood—music was always part of her world. By six, she was writing songs; by eleven, composing seriously. Over time, songwriting became more than a craft—it became a way to process life and connect with others.
“Breathe Out” began as a set of lyrics written in 2018 after a painful friendship ended. The words captured the cycle of giving chances and facing disappointment, and were eventually set aside. Years later, while working on her upcoming poetry book Unheard Melodies, she rediscovered them—and this time, they felt like a song. Fully inspired, she reshaped them into what she immediately knew would be a disco track, complete with imagined guitar riffs and a driving bassline. In the studio, she collaborated with Ryan Stewart, known for his work with Carly Rae Jepsen. Their partnership clicked instantly. What began as raw ideas quickly evolved into a fully realized track through a process that felt natural and in sync. The studio became a space of trust and creative freedom, allowing the song to take shape with ease. The name Kiki Venom reflects both reinvention and personality—“Kiki” as a reclaimed nickname, and “Venom” as a nod to 70s punk and her fascination with snakes. Together, they represent an artist stepping fully into her identity.
At its core, Kiki Venom’s work is about connection. Through “Breathe Out,” she transforms past pain into something vibrant and alive—inviting listeners to feel, release, and recognize themselves in the music.
