Alison Kelsall isn’t your average artist. She has been at Collingwood her whole academic life, and her two passions are art and music. Even though she is involved in the arts elective at Collingwood, some of her best work happens outside of the classroom. She is a comic artist who captures funny or important moments in her life through panels and characters. Being a comic artist, her favourite medium is a simple #2 pencil, and any blank piece of paper she can find.
When she was asked about her future as an artist, she said, "I think I'll always be drawing [but] I don't know if I'm going to be an artist."
The reason Alison prefers to express herself through comics instead of traditional artwork is because she says, "I think comics are the best way of telling a story because it shows emotion." The way she draws her characters is influenced by the way of Bill Watterson, creator of the famous comics Calvin & Hobbes. Her style of art is very similar to his.

Alison Kelsall is always working on her comics, day and night. A day has never gone by without her drawing something brand new. The inspiration for her artwork is mostly from things that happen in her daily life: weird occurrences, funny situations, or just random ideas from her incredibly creative mind. So, if you’re wondering when you’ll be able to see anything new from Alison Kelsall, just find her on any day and ask to see her newest work.
As she says, “Do whatever you think is fun.”
