"He not busy being born is busy dying" - Bob Dylan
Originally from Ontario, Mark Sullivan moved to Vancouver twelve years ago. Growing up in a family of musicians, his father, uncle, and other fiddlers were a significant impact in teaching him the fiddle. Mark started at the age of seven, studying at the Royal Conservatory and learning folk music. He is now very accomplished, and has played for many festivals.
At the moment, Mark Sullivan teaches fifth grade at Collingwood’s junior campus, Wentworth. Mark is married, has a three-year-old daughter, and will be welcoming a second daughter in January. In his free time, Mark enjoys golf, running, reading, cooking and following politics.

Mr. Sullivan’s perception of art is this: “Art, in any form, should cause people to feel. It is also a form of intense communication. Music is his form of artistic expression and self-discovery. It is a visceral experience for him and he uses it as a way to communicate stories from across Canada to anyone who will listen!”
When he was young, Mark would listen to the songs his parents listened to. He tries to capture the feel and expression from multiple genres including Blues, Jazz, Rock, and Classical. His greatest influence was the old-time fiddlers of the 1950s in Ontario and the Prairies, as well as French Canadian and Irish fiddle music.
