The Collingwood community is a family, and everyone that graduates will always be remembered and cherished. Patrick Hewson is a Vancouver native, and he graduated from Collingwood in 2014. He has always been a lover of fashion, music and art, and nature has also been a big part of his life. Patrick loves spending his time outside with the lush green that stretches as far as the eyes can see. “Nature possesses complex simplicity,” states Patrick. Nature is symmetric. A leaf, a blade of green, a snowflake - somehow, something so simple is complex in the most beautiful ways.
Patrick has been singing since he was very young. It is something that has been with him through thick and thin. His inspiration often changes, but he’s especially touched by Ella Fitzgerald, whose voice is he describes as a timeless instrument that never fails any song she interprets. Patrick is also inspired by great performers and true showmanship. He’s always learning from everyone around him.

Patrick writes all of his own songs. Sometimes it’s a poem that turns into lyrics, and sometimes it’s a melody. Sometimes they come together. And when they do, it’s a harmony that lights up even the darkest night. It feels great to build these stories and emotions together, and when it’s played over and over again, it becomes a song that touches the soul.
Patrick’s favourite song writer is Cole Porter, who according to Patrick, is nothing short of a jazz legend. He also loves Rod Temperton, who wrote some of Patrick’s favourite songs. Bon Iver, Michael Jackson, Prince, Aretha Franklin, Amy Winehouse, Lady Gaga - the list goes on - are all favourites for Patrick.
Besides singing, Patrick also loves film and photography. He sings endlessly and he likes to be outside exploring and feeling the world around him. In the future, Patrick plans to continue to create, to be inspired by new experiences, and to sing for the world for as long as he is blessed to do so. The world is an adventure, and to Patrick, we are the wanderers.
