During the busy May season of AP (Advanced Placement) exams, I walked by the art rooms and saw one of Collingwood School’s most talented artists calmly adding the finishing touches to her AP Studio Art 12 portfolio. I looked over her shoulder in awe at her exquisite pieces and I was automatically taken aback by her attention to detail and high mastery of artistic skill. This incredibly talented artist was of course none other than Arts Mag co-director Sabrina Wang.

From an early age, Sabrina pursued drawing and painting as well as piano. Her prowess and breathtaking talent as well as her hard work and dedication allowed her to flourish into one of Collingwood’s greatest artists. As time progressed and as her heavy academic load began to occupy an increasing portion of her time, she still found time to pursue her artistic passions and continued to flourish and experiment with different mediums. Sabrina incorporates her passion and intrinsic artistic nature into her everyday life, from sketching absentmindedly in her sketchbook in between classes to setting up a computer password that imitates the bridge of a piano song. However, she not only takes time to foster her own artistic skills, but also works hard to feature and showcase the works of others.
Since joining the Arts Mag team in grade ten, Sabrina has written numerous articles to feature and reveal all kinds of hidden artistic talent within the school. Her dedication to Arts Mag soon landed her the important role of co-director and she has worked extraordinarily hard alongside Madame Mofazali to develop Arts Mag into what it is today. She spent countless hours transferring Arts Mag from its old format and server to its current one and continues to oversee the publication of every issue to ensure that each is a stunning success. Her wit, intelligence, and approachable demeanour make her a pleasure to work with and to learn from, and as her high school career finishes, it is without doubt that Collingwood School will miss this funny, talented, and extraordinarily bright student, artist, leader, and friend.
Thank you, Sabrina, for your commitment, passion, and grit in spearheading Arts Mag for the past three years. Thank you for gracing our school’s halls with pieces that stop us in our tracks and transport us away from our often humdrum lives. You have inspired us all with your work and your spirit and you leave huge footsteps to fill. We sincerely wish you all the best and we are certain that you will succeed in all your future ventures.
