Monique Timlick. This girl is on fire at the moment. I have known Monique and her triplet sisters, Alexa and Nicole, since day one. I remember being surprised on the first day of kindergarten in Ms. Ursic’s class when I was introduced to three girls who looked very similar, only to find out twelve years later how they would become very different yet well rounded. Now, let me get back to Monique.
I did my homework and by gosh, she has an outstanding portfolio (look for her on flickr: monique.timlick). Monique likes to work behind the camera a lot and prefers that to other art forms although she does dabble in other mediums of course. She currently takes Photography 11 and Multimedia 11/12 at school and works with studio art. This virtuoso also knows her way around professional tools such as Photoshop and Maya (3D editing software). You read that correctly: 3D design.
This Timlick sister has fallen head over heels for photography ever since she got her hands on a camera on Christmas Day 2013. She had always liked photography, but this gift pushed her over the edge. Monique does not enjoy the works of “traditional” artists as much as she does the works of contemporary/modern day artists. When asked whom she admires artistically, she responded with “Jon Risinger”, a name I am very familiar with. Jon Risinger is sort of a shadow artist. He works for Rooster Teeth Productions: a video game based group of YouTube channels. Jon is a back-end guy working on t-shirt designs and assorted merchandise for the numerous channels run by Rooster Teeth. Although she cited Jon Risinger, Monique sees herself as more of someone who would like to be featured in National Geographic. The artists’ works that are featured are, to her, pieces that convey a message and a story to all viewers alike.

Monique has a very supportive group of people surrounding her who are continually in awe of her art pieces. That includes her family, wholeheartedly and unequivocally. As aforementioned, Monique does differ from her sisters in regards to artistic endeavours. Monique is more of a photographer than anything else, whereas Nicole loves studio work and Alexa is less interested in the arts. Monique is an intriguing thinker, by the looks of it. She mentioned that she enjoys odd humour and learning niche facts. Not only is Monique a great artist, she also plays field hockey and is a reading addict who loves science fiction amongst other genres.
Now comes my favourite part about writing these articles. Quote time! I have consistently done this with all the artists I have written about. The basics: one quote that inspires them and a quote they would like to leave the readers with. Words are the most basic form of human communication, where nothing is misleading and there is nothing that you can do to change a word. Monique’s quote that inspires her comes from Dr. Seuss. “I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead. Some come from behind. But I’ve bought a big bat, I’m all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me.” And she would like to leave readers with this message: “Try and do something creative. Even if you don’t think you’re good at art, just try something, whether it’s painting, sewing, or ceramics. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never done it before, or if it’s just a hobby for you. Also, try and do something good- even if it’s for a plant.”
