“Always keep practicing, don’t let whatever your teacher tells you restrain you,” as she smiles, “as soon as you get to high school, they tell you to think more instead of just drawing. ”
This was Nadia’s reply when asked if there is any advice she would like to give to young budding artists. As she flipped through her sketchbook, it became evident that she has put a lot of thinking into each of her drawings, making them captivating and thought-provoking for her viewers.

Nadia’s sketchbook is filled with drawings of different mediums, including watercolours, ink, and a lot of pencil sketches. Pencil sketching is her favourite medium, because it allows her to always have the freedom to “draw more, make mistakes and correct them.” She enjoys drawing still life objects and is also very skilled at drawing animals and plants. Nadia wishes to improve her drawing techniques, such as shading shadows, to make her sketches more realistic. For her, expression through art is expressing thoughts without having to explain them through words.
“People get what you’re trying to say. When you look at a piece of art, there’s a whole story that unfolds before you,” she said.
Nadia’s sketchbook also includes a lot of typography. There are pieces of pure typography, or a mix of words and drawings. It is evident through these artworks that she expresses what she learns from reading.
Although Nadia does not plan on pursuing art professionally, she wishes to keep art as one of her passions. Needless to say, her talent in art will definitely help her in other fields that she is interested in as well.
