For any special occasion, a card is the most personal thing that you can give to someone. Cards allow you to put your thoughts on paper, and give the person a gift much more meaningful than anything else. Handmade gifts have the same effect. They tell the person how much you care about them, and how you were willing to take the time to make them something completely original.
With her carefully crafted handmade greeting cards, Madame Caroline Dey has created the ultimate gift. She has been a French teacher at Collingwood for thirteen years now, and used to teach ESL in Japan. One of her favourite pastimes is to travel! She loves travelling, and “experiencing new cultures.” Her worldly experiences have enabled her to create creative and varied greeting cards for all occasions.
“People seem to love getting something handmade with them in mind,” she said. “I like to tailor my cards for the recipient. I love it when they ask me, ‘How did you do that?’”
It is obvious that her recipients are completely blown away by her handmade cards. Looking at the photos of some of her work, they are more beautiful than any card one could buy in a store, and they mean so much more because of the time she puts into each one.

Madame Dey further added, “Everything around me influences me: colours, textures, patterns and graphics.” She pulls her ideas from her environment, and inspiration comes all the time.
She crafts her cards from all kinds of materials: “I use cardstock, stamps and ink, and also create my own embellishments. I have recently been experimenting with some water colouring on my cards as well as embossing pastes to add texture and dimension.” Madame Dey uses her incredible art talent to make all sorts of cards, from holiday cards to personal cards. She said that she mails a lot of her cards to her friends and family around the world, and she even sells her cards either individually or as sets.
Her work is truly awe-inspiring, with her impressive use of captivating 3D features and impeccable detail. Her cards are nicer than anything ever seen on a shelf in a store, and if anyone ever needs a beautiful gift for someone in their lives, go find Madame Dey!
