Olivia Armstrong, a tenth grader, is an exceptional Irish dancer. Even though the training is harsh, requiring dancers to be as fit as Olympians, Olivia has continuously pushed herself to become better in the field.
Olivia Armstrong, a tenth grader, is an exceptional Irish dancer. Even though the training is harsh, requiring dancers to be as fit as Olympians, Olivia has continuously pushed herself to become better in the field.
After twelve years of hard training, Olivia is at the highest level of Irish dancing, which is open championship, and also possesses her very own solo dress. Her inspiration is seeing how well most of her friends dance. In July this year, Olivia placed 40th in a national competition —- a spectacular result for an Irish dancer. Furthermore, recently in the Western Canadian championship, Olivia got into the top 9, which qualified her to compete in world championships.
Olivia is usually found among the top 5 in most local championships. She also plans to participate in a December competition which will take place in Surrey. When asked what her goal was, Olivia replied that she wants to get into the top 5 in next year’s Western Canadian championship, and eventually top ten in Nationals. We wish Olivia much luck as she dances her way to reach her dreams!
