Sara is a talented, outgoing, and friendly grade twelve art student at Collingwood School. She was born in Korea and had been in Canada for over 10 years. She also has an older brother, a former Senft House captain, who graduated from Collingwood two years ago. Her painting was at the ISA Art Exhibition held in St. George’s School this year. She also sold one of her art pieces during the summer.
Rather than following the traditional ways of art, Sara likes to challenge herself with creating pieces that are different from those of other artists. Sara enjoys conceptually-based installations and digital prints, where she says that she is more interested in the conceptual side and in the process of doing the pieces of art than the finished product. She thinks that she has a contemporary style of art and she likes all different mediums where she is willing to try out as many things as she can. Something that makes Sara very different from other artists is that instead of sketching out her ideas first, she goes right into the process of doing art.

Sara said that her parents have influenced her a lot. Her mother is an art teacher and her father is an art dealer. This has given Sara a great opportunity to learn and to implement her art talent. Sara also likes Jeff Koons and Andy Warhol’s ironic and unconventional styles which have also inspired her a lot.
In Sara’s free time, she enjoys cooking and baking very much. At the time of writing this article, Sara gained acceptance into the School of Art Institute in University of Chicago and Maryland Institute College of Art, with both schools offering her scholarships. She has now also gained acceptance into the prestigious art school Rhode Island School of Design. Wherever she ends up going, she will certainly enjoy great success!
