As a student here in Collingwood, I have always been grateful for my engagement in the tight-knit talented academic community. I have also had the opportunity to meet many amazing people, including Pirooz Malektojar whom I interviewed recently.

Born and raised in Vancouver, Pirooz fluently speaks four languages: English, Farsi, French, and Spanish. But language is not his only talent; Pirooz is also a talented photographer.
Earlier in his career, Pirooz found his inspiration from looking at works of others online. He was inspired to become a great photographer and to produce quality work to impress others.
When asked about his “take” on photography, Pirooz believes that it is his goal to make everyday objects look different. Pirooz states: “It is extremely important for any good photographer to be patient and respect the quality of his or her own work.” Drawing inspiration from his environment and fuelling from his determination to master this form of art, Pirooz feels that photography is in sync with his personality. His belief that he has talents unattained by any of his peers also motivates him to work beyond his limits.

Aside from photography, Pirooz has a great passion for rugby, a sport that he practises about six to ten hours a week. In his spare time, Pirooz likes listening to the music of his favorite band, “The Black Keys.”
In the future, Pirooz aspires to continue his passion of photography at university and to utilize this skill to his advantage in becoming a journalist. Although he is not planning on exhibiting his works, maybe we will get to see many of his art pieces in the future.
