Anoushka Taylor, a 10th Grade student at Collingwood, is a prolific and extremely talented creator of art. Anoushka’s passion for the arts shows in her elegant calligraphy and typography art.
From kindergarten, Anoushka has been interested in visual arts as a subject and has been following this course throughout her career at Collingwood. Besides studio art, she also learns more about her medium and style of choice, typography, through digital media courses such as Photo and Design. Her interest is partly inspired by her mother, who was equally invested in the arts when she was Anoushka’s age.
Anoushka loves calligraphy but also experiments with acrylic paint and watercolour to create abstract art, expressing that she works to create “something that has a shape, but it expresses weirdness”. In her free time, she also likes reading and figure skating.

Looking back at her journey through art, Anoushka recounts how her style emerged: “It took me a while to find what I loved. You need to try a bunch of stuff, find out what you love, and grow in that direction. That’s how I found my way of expressing myself.”
Today, her calligraphy is stunning, polished, and has an aesthetic so unique it cannot be replicated. When Anoushka flipped open her bullet journal, her pages were filled with vibrant shades of colour and beautifully curved letters. Split into months of the year, she decorated each month with a theme and a unique colour palette. In February, she decorated the cover page with pink hearts and a quote gracefully written in calligraphy. In August, she built around an orange palette and embellished the page with mood-board-like drawings. From Harry Potter to “Places I Want to Travel To”, her themes are always full of energy and show her dedication to her art.
In her journey, Anoushka will continue to develop her style. For her, creating these journals will always be her go-to method to release stress. She fully embraces her passion for typography and seeks to continue to improve in the future.
