Tiffany Yee is a Collingwood lifer, who gives music a lot of credit for making her who she is today.
Tiffany has been singing since she was in kindergarten and has participated in various different choirs like jazz and chamber choir. She is currently a member of both concert choir and senior choir.
Outside of school, Tiffany took voice lessons for several years before quitting to concentrate on studying. She notes that through music, she has created many memories and friendships. Tiffany loves how music can bring “people together from different grades, which we don’t see a lot of at school”.
The most important lesson that Tiffany has learned from music is that “hard work pays off in the long run”, which she applies to her life both in and outside of school.
Tiffany does not have any particular style of music that she likes above all others, but she does enjoy listening to pop, R&B, and rap. She also enjoys singing with a group and practicing challenging songs because of the pride and feeling of accomplishment that she is rewarded with every song that she successfully learns.
She says, “it’s really fun to work together as a group to create such amazing sounds and harmonies that flow and tell so many different stories… the (blood), sweat, and tears are all so worth it and gratifying in the end. Being a part of choir is also like being a part of a family. We all are there for the same thing – we love music and we love to sing!”
Aside from singing, Tiffany also takes art classes and does figure skating competitively. Her current dream is to become a teacher and come back to teach at Collingwood, although she admits that her dreams keep changing. In terms of singing, Tiffany wants to continue singing in choirs at university to keep this passion in her life.
