Daisy Wang – a dominant force on the volleyball court, an active member of Thrive and a dedicated student – is also a gifted artist. Daisy has been involved in the Collingwood community since kindergarten. Daisy has always been close with her sister Sabrina, who is also an incredible artist. The two sisters both share a mutual love for art and inspire each other. Daisy is not only a great artist, but also a key member of the senior girls volleyball team. Volleyball has been a sport that she was interested in from a young age and she has been serious about it for a few years now. She plays on a club team outside of school and has competed at the provincial tournament multiple times. Daisy believes that art is a great way for people to express themselves and she uses it as a way to send a message to the audience. Her favourite medium to work with is colour pencils to create a realistic style of work. Although blending the colour pencils takes a lot of time, she believes that the end result is worth it.

Recently, Daisy has been experimenting with the use of watercolour and exploring how to use Photoshop to alter her reference photos. Her recent works have been inspired by surrealism and by finding her inner artistic voice. Looking at others’ artworks and reading articles about other artists at Collingwood, Daisy has become motivated to work with different mediums to further enhance her artistic abilities.
