Arthur Wang is a talented art student at Collingwood School. He was born in Vancouver, went to China when he was 3 years old, and came back to Canada when he was 11 years old. According to Arthur, drawing is actually not his main hobby, however, this article will focus on his talents as a visual artist rather than performing art because if to rank all Arthur’s hobbies, drawing would be in second place right behind music, followed by basketball.
“I think art is about expressing an idea, so it wouldn't be just a piece of paper with colours on it, but also a message behind it,” Arthur says, “Picasso's painting "Guernica" is famous not only because it looks good, but there's also a very powerful message behind it, expressed through the form of art. A painting is worth a thousand words.”
Arthur’s favourite medium to use is a pencil, a sharpie, and some coloured pencils. According to Arthur, pencil is for planning, sharpie for outlining, and coloured pencils for colouring.

When asked “what is your style of art,” Arthur says that he doesn’t have a “style” as that restricts him. “I mean I'm still at a beginner level, people usually look at my work and immediately recognize that those are mine, but that's only because my skill set is limited” says Arthur. To Arthur, each art work should have a meaning behind it, so he often tries to do the same. According to Arthur, “the drawing of three ants holding up the earth might look very weird at first, but it's actually about peace. The white, yellow, and black ants represent each race. If humans don't live as one family, the world would crumble. Otherwise, racism will ruin the world.”
