Art has always been a strong focus and an important component of Collingwood students’ lives. Hetty Zhang, a Grade 11 student, is a great example of such statement. Born in Qingdao, China, Hetty moved to Canada 6 years ago in Grade 5 and came to Collingwood in Grade 8 and has since, been immensely involved with the arts program at school.
Besides from drawing and painting, Hetty is a great pianist, having passed the grade 9 level three years ago, and also plays the flute as a member of the School Senior Jazz band. She is also very involved with athletics, being a member of the school volleyball team up until last year, where she played middle and power positions. She has also practiced Tae Kwon Do for six years, achieving black belt ability. As for the taste of music, Hetty is a fan of Korean Pop.
