Sydney Chapman, a talented Grade Twelve student at Collingwood School, has showcased her brilliance in acting through her steadfast involvement with school plays and musicals. Sydney’s family members include an older brother and sister, her parents, and her beloved dog Max. She was born in Singapore and moved to Vancouver in Grade Nine, and since her arrival at Morven, she has become an active member of the Collingwood arts community.
According to Sydney, she was first exposed to the “acting bug” in New York where she attended live theater. This experience strongly influenced her decision to pursue acting and fostered a keen interest in Music Theater. Sydney has her own philosophy on art. She thinks ‘acting is an easy and good way to express yourself ’ and ‘it allows you to get away from stress in school.’ Already an accomplished and talented actor at Collingwood, Sydney is not complacent with her work and always knows there is room for improvement.
Apart form acting and performing, Sydney has many other interests and hobbies. She likes singing, running, track and field, dancing, and playing with her dog. She is part of the school’s track team and also danced in the school last term.
Sydney will be having her next performance in the school play, The Diary of Anne Frank and understands that this might be one of her last play performances in high school. She will always have fond memories of the Collingwood arts community. Looking towards the future, Sydney is ready to embrace the excitement of graduating. With her keen affection for theater, Sydney will be attending university, where she may possibly pursue a major in acting.
