Meghan Chase is a passionate and talented artist with a wide array of hobbies and interests including travelling, skiing, yoga, and mountain biking. Her passion for nature and travelling has influenced her art and helped create its distinctive style. From a young age, Meghan has enjoyed drawing and painting. Through art courses at Collingwood School, she has been able to further develop her artistic voice.
She enjoys artwork with rich, vivid colours and paintings that are able to portray emotion and stories. Meghan appreciates Impressionistic style paintings as they are able to portray stories to viewers. As well, her preferred medium is acrylic paint because of its versatility and vibrancy. Her passion for vibrant, rich colours can be seen through her previous piece, “Map Collage”, completed in Studio Art 10AP as well as her “Candy Pastel Project” that she is currently working on in Studio Art 11 Enriched.
Currently, Meghan is taking 3 visual art courses: Studio Art 11 Enriched, Graphic Design 11/12, and Digital Photography 11. Although Meghan does not plan on going to art school, she does plan on taking AP Studio Art 12 next year and continues to keep a sketchbook at hand. Art will continue to play an important role in her life and Meghan’s advice to budding artists is to take risks and to not be afraid. She states that “a blank sheet of brand new paper may seem daunting but just go for it! Do not be swayed by other people’s artwork or styles either; everyone has a unique way of expressing themselves and everyone should have his or her own distinctive, artistic voice.”
