Nayantara Nilakantan
By Hailey Xi Born in Montreal, Quebec, Nayantara Nilakantan began her educational journey at Collingwood in 2011, starting in kindergarten. Coming from a family with a strong musical background, she’s always been drawn to both music and visual art. When asked about her favourite athletic activity, Nayantara responded with “walking (if that counts).” In school, her favourite subject is law, as it allows her to delve into topics like history and philosophy. Outside of academics, she enjoys practicing and listening to music, engaging in conversations with friends, and indulging in drawing or gaming. Nayantara’s inspirations mainly come from musicians, with Stevie Wonder being a standout figure for her due to his immense talent and amicable demeanour. For her, art serves as a means of expression that words can't capture, whether through music or drawing. It's a sanctuary where she finds solace and comfort amidst life's pressures and anxieties. |
Her advice for aspiring artists is to persevere through mistakes and turn them into new creative avenues. Over the years, music has not only boosted her confidence but also fostered leadership skills within her, shining a positive light for her.
Although she doesn’t foresee pursuing a career directly related to the arts, she plans to continue engaging in arts as hobbies and through clubs in university. Nonetheless, her artistic experiences have undoubtedly enhanced her creativity and expressiveness, shaping her personal growth and influencing her outlook on life.
