Industrial design e-commerce has been designed for students to get to know the industrial design process from the concept to an actual product. Students will improve their sketching and Illustration abilities and become familiar with ideation, idea development, rendering, and how to use these abilities to bring their concepts to existence. Students will develop their abilities to analyze, critique and create products and services that will help meet current unmet needs, solving existing problems affecting a large group of consumers. A major focus will be on the design process and design thinking. Learners will become proficient in providing different ideas and solutions, test their ideas and present them. As well, the main marketing concepts, operations, and techniques as they are applied in today’s digital business world locally and internationally will be introduced. This course builds upon the knowledge students have of marketing to explain the need for a well thought out strategy to motivate consumers to buy the products and services that they generate through the design process. The online presence is a relevant and exciting factor of today’s marketing strategies. We will learn about how marketing is conducted in/affected by/incorporates the world wide web. Creative and critical thinking and communication skills are vital for success in this course and in the greater world, and we will be working on projects to develop and enhance these areas.
